Why is Nutrition so Important

Our Philosophy

At LifeWorks Wellness Center, we eat, sleep, and drink good nutrition! It is a fact now that optimal health is linked to a high quality, nutritious diet. The importance of good nutrition is the main preventive measure against a high number of human diseases! It can literally be a matter of enjoying life to the fullest, or a life of pain, disease, and "just coping." Many people, although they may not realize it, are committing nutritional suicide. By eating bad foods low in nutrition and high in harmful ingredients, they are robbing their body of life . . . one mouthful at a time.

A poor diet equals poor function. If you are have symptoms or some kind of illness, it is obvious that some system or part of your body is not functioning properly. Our desire is to assist you in restoring that proper function so that you can regain and maintain abundant health.

"Many people, although they may not realize it, are committing nutritional suicide."

Why do you eat?

Do you ever think about why you eat? Well, the easy answers are because you are hungry and your stomach is rumbling. Sometimes you might also eat because you are tired, bored, sad or happy. Or maybe it’s because that chocolate candy bar looks so good!

Those are some of the emotional and physical reasons why you eat, but do you ever put much thought into why your body needs food? Not just any food, by the way, but healthy, good-for-you food? The foods you eat provide the energy your body needs to function. Just like you need to put fuel in your car or recharge your cell phone battery, your body needs to be fed energy-providing foods every day. A healthy diet will give your body plenty of energy and raw materials you need to stay healthy.

The Amazing Body

The human body is truly remarkable. Yes, we all get sick at some time or another, but if you give the body all the nutrients it craves, it will heal itself. There are a few processes that make us sick, bad genes, inflammation, oxidation, and a poor immune system. The good news is good food will alter these processes and positively affect health.

Hippocrates got it right.

Science is constantly demonstrating how a good diet boosts our immune systems and reduces inflammation and oxidation and turns off bad genes. Sticking to a nutritious, high quality diet will go a long way in curing illnesses and preventing diseases. Hippocrates had the right idea more than 2000 years ago when he said, “Let thy food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.”
